Who can forget the glorious Lions Tour of 2013?  Three electric Tests and the image of George North carrying Israel Folau like a sack of spuds will forever etched into the memories of all who witnessed it.  You’d be forgiven for thinking that was the best thing to come out of that wonderful summer, but you’d be oh so wrong… For in a far flung corner of the Suncorp, a tight group of pals generated an idea that would change the face of mildly competitive social rugby on a semi-regular basis for the foreseeable future.

That idea became The Elephants, an invitational rugby club hell bent on being a class act on and off the field and developing an inclusive community of like-minded individuals – all the while dressed sharper than an ivory tusk. The illustrious Herd has a core of ex-military players, supplemented with many shining diamonds collected on the way as we galloped from summer 7s tournaments to beach rugby to flood lit 15s games.

We are infamous (well, sort of) for our sensational pink kit; the envy of many 7s teams in their ‘hilarious’ tuxedo rigs. Come on lads…  We pride ourselves on our industrial style rugby and often field a team made up entirely of rabid back-rowers. The breakdown is our happy place.  Add in some scintillating runners and we may just be able to hold our own for 10 minutes before aging legs and crooked spines mean we must revert to attrition and mind games; our happiest place…  Remember: wisdom and will always triumph over youth!

We are absolutely stoked for Ibiza, so whether we meet on the field, at the bar or on the dancefloor, be sure to charge your glass, come say hello and RIDE WITH THE HERD!
